DyStar is a provider of products and services for the textile, leather, paper, plastic and other chemical industries. The company combines the textile dyebusinesses of the former dye producers Bayer, Hoechst, BASF, ICI/Zeneca, Mitsubishi and Mitsui with the auxiliary activities of Boehme and Rotta. With over 2000 employees in more than 50 countries they remain leader on the market.

Their multiple products along with detailed functional requirements were the most important factor in awarded concept design. Office contains of 3 parts: open available for visitors and 2 enclosed offices areas. Central portion of the project occupies main reception, conference rooms, small meeting rooms and café style pantry.

Open entrance zone was designed as innovative and dynamic company exhibition area. Hence we decided for central, elliptical composition of reception desk and waiting zone. Smooth shape of the round ribbon, serving as workstation and bench, surround the middle portion – set of steel bars painted in different colors inspired by liquid paint dripping from the ceiling. Color pallete refers to company range of available dyes. There is feature light above the central area enhancing effect of shiny and polished metal poles.

Reception zone is surrounded by transparent conference rooms, making the space bigger and brighter, with indirect natural light coming through the adjacent rooms. Each space contains of color accents in a form of colorful acoustic panels, which enhance sound insulation property. There are film on each glass partition providing privacy inside the rooms and allowing light to penetrate reception area.

Thanks to interviews with end-user groups we could learn more about structure of the company and design modern and agile office workspace, where employees, of each level, can pick the place and decide, whether to work in group or stay away from the rest of team. Office environment becomes more open with a lot of natural light and shared workstations for employees spending most of their time with clients.

Color accents in collaboration areas and natural greenery throughout the office makes the space vivid and inspiring. Moreover we proposed additional functions, such as phone booths, where employees may enjoy being completely sound insulated from busy open office area.
